Up to our ears in paper!
Oh the paperwork!
On one hand, it is easier this time through, on the other it is still a series of never ending paper cuts!
Here is a snapshot-
The dossier consists of the homestudy which is the report completed but the social worker evaluating whether you are suitable parents to adopt. We meet with the social worker a number of times over a few months and she ultimately writes the homestudy report.
The other paperwork includes:
-financial statement (the juicy details of what we earn, how we spend it and what we are worth)
-medical certificates (declarations from the doctor that we are in perfect health to adopt)
-criminal record checks completed by the adoption agency
-criminal record check completed by us
-prior contact check - to see if Ministry of Children and Families has a record on us
-application for the adoption agency
-application to Vietnam to adopt -plus pass port photos
-letter of no objection "to adopt" from the Ministry Of Children and Families
-letters from employers around our salaries and years of employment
-immigration application
- 4 reference letters (thanks to you all!)
-courier birth certificates, passports and marriage licence so the adoption agency can notarized them
.........and through this all we also needed new passports and of course our marriage certificate was lost somewhere so we needed a new one.
We are practically finished the paperwork. We are just waiting on Steve's criminal record check- funny story- he shares a birthday or something with a known felon so while my check took 2 days, his will likely take a month....ouch!
So for the moment the task at hand is to monitor the immigration application and contact our MP if it gets jammed in the system and time becomes of the essence and finish up our homestudy then
Tick tick tick........
We wait.......
Ps- I have challenges around being patient! lol
